Weaving Meaning into Every Design
At Andrew Gordon Jewelry, every piece begins with a thread—of love, connection, and the timeless beauty of symbols. Behind each design is the partnership of James and Rebecca Sutter, a husband-and-wife team who bring together decades of craftsmanship, creativity, and a shared passion for meaning and artistry.
James Andrew Gordon Sutter
James grew up surrounded by the tools of creation. Born into a family of jewelers, his parents instilled in him an early appreciation for craftsmanship and design. At just six years old, James carved his first creation in his father’s workshop: a dragon statue that didn’t quite turn out as planned but sparked a lifelong love of working with his hands.
Encouraged by his father, James honed his skills in metalwork and wax carving, refining his attention to detail and mastering the balance between beauty and functionality. Through the years, he was fortunate to learn from some of the most renowned artists and craftspeople in the industry, shaping his understanding of design as an art form that tells a story.
The intricate patterns of Celtic knots, the symmetry of Escher, and the endless inspiration of the natural world became the foundation of James’ aesthetic. The Love Knot, the first iconic design of Andrew Gordon Jewelry, emerged from this fascination with patterns and their ability to convey deep meaning.
For James, design is a meditation—a quiet practice of creating beauty that connects us to the world, to one another, and to something greater.
I
The Heart of Our Work
At its core, Andrew Gordon Jewelry is about connection: to each other, to the past, and to the greater patterns of life. Every piece carries a message—a reminder of what truly matters.
These symbols—and the stories they hold—reflect our belief that life is made of infinite threads: countless connections that shape who we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re going.
Rebecca Sutter
Rebecca is the storyteller behind Andrew Gordon Jewelry, weaving meaning into the designs and illuminating the profound connection between symbols and the human experience. Where James focuses on the texture, shape, and physical artistry, Rebecca dives deep into the esoteric meanings and timeless truths that these symbols represent.
Her love for storytelling, spirituality, and the interconnectedness of life led her to embrace Infinite Threads, a philosophy that views all of creation as a tapestry of meaning. Every symbol is a thread that connects us—to the past, to the present, to ourselves, and to one another.
Rebecca brings this perspective to the line, writing about the stories behind the symbols, exploring their deeper truths, and helping customers connect to their own sense of purpose and belonging. Whether it’s the Tree of Life, which speaks to the interconnectedness of all things, or the Love Knot, which represents unity and eternal connection, Rebecca’s work ensures that every piece of jewelry is not just an object, but a story waiting to be told.
